Privacy Policy
Last Revised: Feb 14, 2025
KlimBo (“Company” or “we”) respect the privacy of its users (“User” or “You”) and are committed to protect the User’s information, be it yours or your child’s. We believe that You have a right to know our practices regarding the information we may collect and use when You use our mobile applications such as interactive e-books, games, and educational experiences (“Products”) and website (the Products and website together, the “Service”).
1. Your consent (important, please read carefully!)
By accessing and/or using the Service is defined as site plus apps, You agree to the terms and conditions set forth in this Privacy Policy, including to the possible collection and processing of your Personal Information (as defined below). Please note: if You disagree to any term provided herein, you may not access or use the Service.
2. Offline Use
KlimBo allows the use of some features of its Service and some Products offline (without internet connection). Offline use of the Service and Products will preclude the collection of any information pertaining to You and/or Your use of the Service or Products (including, as applicable, information pertaining to your child and their use) by any Third Parties (defined below) and/or KlimBo.
3. Online Use: What User information may be collected, and for what purpose
KlimBo does not collect any information from its Users. Some information may nonetheless be collected through third party services used by KlimBo such as advertising networks, push notification services or others (“Third Parties“) and stored on such Third Parties’ servers.
Persistent User Identifier and No Other Personal Information:
Third Parties may also collect from Users a persistent User identifier. KlimBo allows for this information to be collected strictly for internal operations of the Service including serving You with contextual advertisement (“contextual advertisement” are ads that are served to you without connection to any behavioral elements).
Permissions requested by mobile applications:
-
android.permission.ACCESS_ADSERVICES_AD_ID
This permission allows the application to access the Android Advertising ID as part of the Android AdServices API.
Usage Justification: The Advertising ID is a unique, user-resettable ID for advertising, provided by Google Play Services. Access to this ID is crucial for delivering personalized advertisements, measuring the effectiveness of ad campaigns, and supporting features like frequency capping. This helps in showing you ads that are more relevant to your interests and supports the app's functionality by generating revenue.
Privacy Consideration: The Advertising ID is designed with user privacy in mind. It is anonymized and can be reset by users in their device settings. We and our advertising partners are committed to using this ID in accordance with Google Play policies and industry best practices for privacy. Users have control over the Advertising ID and can limit ad personalization through their device settings. -
android.permission.ACCESS_ADSERVICES_ATTRIBUTION
This permission, part of the Android AdServices API, enables the application to measure ad attribution.
Usage Justification: Ad attribution is the process of determining which ads or ad campaigns are most effective in driving user actions, such as app installs or in-app purchases. This permission helps us and our advertising partners understand the performance of our ad efforts, ensuring efficient ad spending and supporting the app's continued development and availability.
Privacy Consideration: Access to attribution information is used in an aggregated and anonymized manner. It does not involve accessing personal user data but rather focuses on the overall performance metrics of advertising campaigns. This helps ensure that user privacy is maintained while still allowing for effective ad measurement. -
android.permission.ACCESS_ADSERVICES_TOPICS
This permission, also part of the Android AdServices API, allows the application to access topics of interest that Android has inferred for the user, based on their app usage.
Usage Justification: Accessing these topics enables the delivery of more relevant and personalized advertising content. By understanding general categories of interest, we can ensure that the ads displayed are more likely to be of interest to you, improving user experience and ad relevance. This is done without needing to know specific user demographics or Browse history.
Privacy Consideration: The topics accessed are generated by the Android system based on on-device analysis of app usage and are designed to be privacy-preserving. These topics are not tied to personal identifiers, and the process is intended to provide advertisers with general interest categories rather than specific user details, thus upholding user privacy. -
android.permission.ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE
This permission allows the application to get information about network connections, such as which networks exist and which, if any, are available.
Usage Justification: Checking the network state is essential for optimizing both the application's functionality and the delivery of advertisements. It allows the app to adjust its behavior based on network availability, ensuring that network-dependent features and ad loading are only attempted when a network connection is present. This improves efficiency and user experience by avoiding errors and saving battery.
Privacy Consideration: This permission alone does not access any personal user data. It only provides general information about the device's network connectivity status and type, which is not linked to individual user information. -
android.permission.ACCESS_WIFI_STATE
This permission allows the application to access information about Wi-Fi state, such as whether Wi-Fi is enabled and the name of connected Wi-Fi devices.
Usage Justification: Accessing Wi-Fi state helps in further refining network-related behaviors within the application. In the context of advertising, it can be used to optimize ad delivery based on the type of network connection, potentially preferring Wi-Fi for richer media ads to reduce mobile data usage. For normal app operation, it can help in optimizing data usage and connectivity management.
Privacy Consideration: While this permission can access the names of Wi-Fi networks, our application uses it primarily to understand the type of network connection (Wi-Fi vs. mobile data) for optimizing performance and ad delivery. We do not collect or transmit specific Wi-Fi network names in a way that could be linked to personal user data. -
android.permission.FOREGROUND_SERVICE
This permission allows the application to run a foreground service. A foreground service performs operations that are noticeable to the user, even while the user is not directly interacting with the app.
Usage Justification: This permission is used for essential app functionalities that need to continue running even when the app is in the background. For example, it might be used for background synchronization of data necessary for the app to function correctly or to ensure uninterrupted delivery of certain app features. It is not directly used for advertising purposes but supports the overall stability and functionality of the app, which indirectly supports ad presentation by ensuring the app is running as expected.
Privacy Consideration: Foreground services are designed to be user-aware, with a persistent notification indicating that the app is running in the background. Our use of foreground services is limited to essential operational tasks that enhance app functionality and user experience. We ensure that these services are used responsibly and do not intrude on user privacy. -
android.permission.INTERNET
This permission is fundamental as it allows the application to create network sockets and use custom network protocols. In simpler terms, it enables the app to access the internet.
Usage Justification: Internet access is crucial for both the core functionalities of the application and for serving advertisements. It enables the app to communicate with servers for retrieving content, accessing online services, and for loading and displaying ads from our advertising partners. This is a standard and necessary permission for almost all apps that provide online features or include advertising.
Privacy Consideration: While internet access is essential, it also opens pathways for data transmission. We ensure that all data communications, including those related to advertising (like fetching ads and reporting ad interactions), are conducted securely and with respect for user privacy. We adhere to best practices to protect any data transmitted over the internet and ensure compliance with privacy regulations. -
com.google.android.gms.permission.AD_ID (Google Play Services)
This permission, specific to Google Play Services, also grants access to the Google Advertising ID.
Usage Justification: Similar to `android.permission.ACCESS_ADSERVICES_AD_ID`, this permission allows access to the Google Advertising ID, ensuring compatibility across different Android versions and devices that utilize Google Play Services. It is used for delivering personalized ads, measuring ad effectiveness, and other advertising-related purposes. Using this ID helps in providing relevant advertising content and supports the app's availability at no cost to the user.
Privacy Consideration: The Google Advertising ID is designed to be privacy-centric. It is anonymous and user-resettable. We and our advertising partners are committed to using the Advertising ID in accordance with Google’s advertising policies and industry standards for user privacy. Users retain control over their Advertising ID through their device's settings, allowing them to manage ad personalization preferences.
